FreeWare

You're visitor number free counters

This is a personal collection of freeware which I have compiled. You are free to use these software providing you do not profit from it nor do you charge money for it.

Although the compilation and most of the code is mine, the credit for the ideas and some of the code belongs to the programming community in general. I cannot take sole credit for the knowledge I have accumulated for the past 40+ years of my programming career.

Note: These programs are flagged internally as "suspicious" so if you have an antivirus program it will scan it prior to first run. This is to ensure that if this website was ever hacked and someone inserts malicious code into the installer, it will get caught by your antivirus program. Simply let your anti-virus do its job. It will only only check twice, once during installation, and once the first time you run the program. This is a normal behavior. If you use the Window Defender, this program will block any executable downloaded from the Internet. In this case, you must select "More Info" and then "Run anyway."

Simply right mouse click and select Save link to download (or click if your browser allows direct download in which case, the setup file will be saved in your "Download" directory). The download files are setup programs which you must save somewhere on your hard drive or temporary location, then run it to install. Run the installer as an admin (right mouse click and select "Run as Administrator"). If you don't have this option, you must ask help from someone who has administrative privileges to the computer.

System requirements: Win XP - Win 11, although some works with others as well. Docs if any, is included with the installer.

Category: Pre-K Educational Software
This one is the computerized version of the book "Alphabet At The Zoo." Basically it allows youngsters to be interactive with the book. In addition to teaching the children the alphabet, it also teaches basic computer skills such as mouse handling, getting familiar with buttons and drag and drop operations. But don't tell the kids this, they will be learning without realizing they are learning. The setup option allows teachers/parents to customize the program's behavior and also it has an option to view and print the activities worksheets.

Category: Study Bible

This is helpful for those who must prepare sermons or notes for bible study, especially when you want to do research of the New Testament DIRECTLY from the the original oldest Greek texts yet found (NA26/27). Scan each Greek verse word-by-word, apply valid English synonyms. Find out what it REALLY says, without all the ecclesiastic "tweaks" for agenda adjustment that had been applied to it. It even has the Strong's word number so you can cross reference it with Strong's. Several Bibles available: King James Version (1611), Young's Literal Translation, and Revised Standard Edition. It has complete note taking, analysis screen and it even allows you to export the entire bible or selected verses. You can go to your Bible studies or sermon with the material neatly printed out with your notes. This was my study aid in 1975 when it was still on the Apple Cassette BASIC back in my high school and Franciscan seminary days and has grown steadily ever since. A must study-aid for those taking theology classes.

Classroom Toolbox

Category: Teacher's Aid
This is a remake from the 1987 Apple II version. My then boss Tom Prosen and I, designed this program together and it's quite a hit with teachers.

Classroom Toolbox is a versatile, easy to use program, designed to let teachers create tests and worksheets in a wide variety of formats. Students as well as teachers can use Classroom Toolbox to make puzzles like Crossword, Word Find, and Word Jumble. Tests such as Multiple Choice, Completion, and Matching can also be generated. Classroom Toolbox is unique in that instructions, questions, and answers may be as long as necessary.

The strength of Classroom Toolbox is its flexibility. Once a question and answer file have been created, several types of worksheets and tests can be printed using the same file. A Multiple Choice file, for example, can generate Matching, Word Find, Word Jumble, and Crossword worksheets with no additional work. This allows one worksheet to include a combination of Multiple Choice, Completion, and Matching questions, or any other combination desired. The Custom Design option saves time at the end of a marking period, because questions can be drawn from various files created earlier. Note: The program was not completed and "abandoned" by yours truly but the 70% of which is working can generate tests and answer keys.

Bouncer

Category: Screen Saver

This screen saver was done in one day to accommodate a request for a "generic" screen saver which can be used to display a company logo. I started by picking two Dell circular logos and visualize how it might look bouncing along on the screen. I started placing some physics algorithm on momentum and gravity and it was working out pretty awesome until I realized that the bouncing eventually will stop and the logo kind of lay on the bottom of the screen motionless.. "Object in motion tends to stay in motion" is not a forever thing when the motion dissipates. So I removed the fancy code and now it bounces forever happily. This one is for Windows and works with most secure screen savers management. Once installed, select the screen saver from the Display Properties => Screen Saver tab. Or in Settings -> Personalization -> Locked Screen (last option on the bottom right panel "Screen saver settings"

Magnifier

Download now

Category: Utility (graphics, color)

This is a heritage from when I was programming the Macintosh. I was doing lots of graphics work for the games I programmed and it had to look good both on black and white and color Macs. In addition, exact colors are required to make masks for animation. This magnifier allows you to pinpoint at different level of magnification any object on the screen to get its global position and RGB color code. With the dawn of XP, this utility probably is only good to get color codes since the XP has a magnifier built-in.

Category: Financial Application

Generate a loan / Amortization schedule and printed the Amortization schedule. The print option also allows printing into a text file for importing into other applications. Program can be set in accelerated mode in which case you only get one entry per year. So a 30 year mortgage will only give you 30 lines of 12 months totals. Good for making comparison of length of loans and interests.

This is an old demo for the Chesstools.ocx by Dr. Alwin Hales (Ministry of Transport Works, Jamaica). Chatur (means "Chess" in sanskrit) was put together in one evening.. yeah.. don't ask.. but it's true! Surprisingly, you will find it a quite formidable opponent, especially if you adjust the computer thinking time. Further distribution of this game is prohibited.
